The Edward D. Herndon Legacy Foundation, Inc.
Mr. Edward D. Herndon called the halls of Northeastern Academy and Room 202 his second home for over forty years. As an ordained minister, Mr. Herndon could have taken on full-time church ministry, but instead chose to make the classroom his mission field. Mr. Herndon deemed it a privilege to interact with and teach high school aged students on a daily basis. Pointing others to Christ was his ultimate goal.
After Mr. Herndon's untimely passing in 2011, a group of family members and former students gathered and purposed to preserve the legacy of Mr. Herndon by forming the Edward D. Herndon Legacy Foundation, Inc.
“The greatest want of the world is the want of men - men who will not be bought or sold, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right thought the heavens fall."
— Ellen G. White
Our mission is simple - to recognize students at Northeastern Academy of high academic excellence and foster in them leadership skills. The Education and Scholarship Fund was created as a mechanism to channel and earmark funds received to support the foundation's mission. Since 2012, students at Northeastern Academy who meet Foundation criteria have been awarded.
